TWO GOOD KNIGHTS STILL DON'T MAKE OUR DAY! |
|
It is of enormous pride to us fans that in addition to the Beatles as a
band – and John Lennon as a solo performer – the Hall Of Fame rightly
includes two Knights of the British (and Beatles) Realm - Sir George
Martin and Sir Paul McCartney.
And one belated day - they will induct George Harrison and Ringo Starr
for their solo work too.
But there is one other name who also belongs in the Hall Of Fame. Brian
Epstein.
As has been the case very single year since the start of the Hall of
Fame - his name has NEVER EVEN BEEN INCLUDED on the list of
non-performers selected by the Hall's Nominating Committee to be
considered for induction.
So he hasn’t had a prayer of being inducted so far.
Actually - without your help and the help of millions of Beatles fans -
he hasn't got a prayer period.
He's history. Literally.
Very few people even give a damn.
Certainly no one on the Hall of Fame Nominating Committee thinks he's
important enough.
By the way - we're talking about THE MAN WHO GAVE THE WORLD THE BEATLES!
While selection for induction into the Hall of Fame should certainly
not be a popularity contest – there has to be some way in which such a
grave oversight can be respectfully brought to the attention of those
who have the power to remedy this travesty.
The way we are doing it is by collecting signatures on a petition.
So if you love the Beatles - and are grateful that they ever touched
your life - please give 30 seconds of your time and
touch this sentence.
It's a small way of saluting the memory of the man who gave us
something very special.

This website is also the location of the on-line petition of the MBE!
campaign - which is determined to have Brian Epstein inducted into the
non-performers' category of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The success
of this campaign depends totally on public support. Before reading
further - we respectfully urge all Beatle fans and admirers of Brian
Epstein to
click here for Brian. It's a way of saluting the memory of
the man who gave us something very special.
Brian Epstein is the man who discovered the Beatles, and guided them to
mega-stardom, making them the most successful musical artists of all
time. Without Brian, the Beatles as we came to know them, simply
wouldn't have existed.
But, regrettably, the man who did so much for the Beatles - and who
died tragically in 1967 - has become a comparatively forgotten man
since his death. Almost a Nowhere Man.
The good news is that there is now a long-overdue revival of interest
in this great man and his achievements. The movement began with the
reissue in the USA in 1998 of Brian Epstein's autobiography - A
Cellarful Of Noise. The new edition of this book is published by Byron
Preiss Multi-media Books in its Rhino Retrospective series and it is
distributed by Pocket Books. List price is $9.95.
The book contains a new introduction by Sir George Martin - and an
extensive companion narrative by leading Beatles historian and
authority Martin Lewis - who is the driving force behind the campaign
to restore Epstein's reputation.
This official website - which was also the first website dedicated to
Brian Epstein - has been created to honor Epstein and to share all the
news and information about the revival of appreciation - and to provide
background and context for those who are interested in the man behind
the Beatles.
Among the many facets of this revival is the campaign to have Brian
Epstein inducted into the non-performers' section of the Rock and Roll
Hall of Fame (alongside other music industry vanguards such as Sam
Phillips, Bill Graham and Berry Gordy). The Hall of Fame
campaign is sponsored by Beatlefest
- organizers of the official
Beatles fan conventions and is proudly hosted by Beatles historian
Martin Lewis.
This website gives you the opportunity to sign on-line the worldwide
petition for this campaign. It also allows you to download a hard copy
of the petition form with which to gather signatures at any locations
where there might be gatherings of people who cherish the Beatles, such
as the workplace, academic institutions, concerts, parties and family
events.
So far, the combined on-line and hardcopy petitions contain a total of
30,114
signatures! That is a wonderful start. But there are millions of
people in our world grateful to have the Beatles in their life. Please
make it a little project of yours to recruit all your Beatle-loving
family, friends, work colleagues or schoolmates to the cause. Our
target is at least 100,000 signatures! The Hall of Fame would find it
hard to ignore that! Remember - There's Nothing You Can Do That Can't
Be Done!
